Air Cargo Operations

1. Course objectives

  1. Facilitate and coordinate the efficient flow of cargo in the aviation industry
  2. Perform all operations at international air cargo rates and charges, documentation, booking in the cargo terminal in the airports
  3. Advise exporters and importers on cargo issues
  4. Perform the calculation of the air cargo rates and charges documentations booking and cargo packing

2. Course duration

  1. 8 months of classroom work with two terms of four months each
  2. 3 months of field attachment

  1. Industry Registrations
  2. IATA cargo Agent
  3. Would geography
  4. Aircraft characteristics
  5. Handling facilities
  6. Cargo acceptance
  7. Cargo booking procedure
  8. Cargo Automation
  9. Air cargo rating
  10. Air Bill

 

4. Recommended candidates

  1. Staff employed by aviation organizations with no previous training in the following:-
    • Cargo services
    • Handling company offices
    • Load and ramp control
  2. Form IV leavers with three credit passes one of which should be English
  3. Form VI leavers with at least one principal pass

5. Awards

  1. College certificate
  2. JP International Diploma
  3. IATA Certificate on registering for their Examination on a separate arrangement.

6. Career prospects
